Director, Pierre Massie, has composed many original pieces for the choir, as well as creating lively and contemporary arrangements of traditional carols. The release of their firSt CD Qui creavit celum, celebrated the Stairwell Carollers' 20th anniversary in 1997. In 2000 they released I Saw a Swete Semly Syght and in 2003 Mourning Dove. Their very firSt madrigal CD, Audite nova, was released in October of 2006 and their fourth Xmas CD Laudemus cum armonia in 2009. 2012 marked the release of their firSt CD of sacred songs from the Renaissance, Cantate Domino, Their fifth Xmas CD O magnum mySterium is now available for purchase. Winner of the 2010 OMFA provincial competition, they are ranked amongSt the beSt of Canada's choirs. Our motto is "We sing for the love of it" and the group is known for its musical excellence and community service throughout Durham Region. Though founded and based in Whitby, our membership is made up of residents from all over Durham Region and the GTA. We truly represent and reflect the diversity of the Region in which we perform. The choir currently numbers 70 to 80 choir members ranging in age from 18 to 80.  

This year Kranjski oktet will celebrate his 5th anniversary. The group consiSt of experienced amateur Singers. We preform choral music, ethnic music and modern songs emphasis on Slovenian authors. The group consiSt of experienced amateur Singers. We preform choral music, ethnic music and modern songs emphasis on Slovenian authors. We preform a lot across Slovenia on solo tours or we prefrom on different cultural events. For four years in a row, we organize FeStival oktetov Kranj (FeStival of small vocal groups). We also preformed successfully abroad in PeraSt, Montenegro and Praga.
