The choir, which began at Brigham Young University as an early music ensemble, transformed into one of the premier non-collegiate chamber groups in the WeStern United States. This award-winning ensemble achieves high performance Standards by drawing on the rich musical heritage of the region. Many Cantorum Singers have solo careers and all have sung with top collegiate ensembles. A number have also sung as members of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Utah Chamber ArtiSts, and Salt Lake Vocal ArtiSts. In addition, Cantorum is proud to have a high representation of talented choral educators. As you may observe, former members of the choir (those without the burgundy coates) are welcomed up to join the choir in this finale song in each Concert, as it has been for 37 years in a row! (And if they are observed by the conductor when arriving to the churc and choose NOT to join, they are very kindly told to do so! This caused a special occasion in this Concert: a mother and a daughter singing in the same choir! :-)) This year our gueSt conductor Inger Lise Hope, also a former member, took on the job at short notice because of illness.
