It came HIGHly Commended in Westminster School's Carol Competition in 2012, and was the first HIGHly Commended entry in The Times Carol Competition in 2013. Apologies for some sound distortion - I've tried my best to edit most of it out. The performers are credited at the end of the video. Hope you enjoy, and Merry Christmas!

The choir has built an international reputation and has made it a trademark to include newly written MUSIC in its programmes. This is thanks to the work of Knut Nystedt (b....  moreThroughout its existence the chamber choir Schola Cantorum has had HIGH ambitions. The choir has built an international reputation and has made it a trademark to include newly written MUSIC in its programmes. This is thanks to the work of Knut Nystedt (b. 1915), organist, composer and conductor, who returned to Norway in 1964 after studying in the USA and started a choir at the MUSIC department of the University of Oslo. The choir continues to recruit members from the department of MUSIC, as well as from the Norwegian Academy of MUSIC in more recent years. The American choral tradition in which Nystedt was trained emphasises the importance of new MUSIC – a practice Nystedt brought back with him to Oslo. Knut Nystedt’s MUSIC became a vital element of Schola Cantorum’s repertoire. Tone Bianca Sparre Dahl became conductor in 2002, and has further established the choir’s firm position in Norway’s MUSICal life. She has continued Nystedt’s tradition of performing modern MUSIC. This choir is partnered with a non-profit organization called the New Yor...  moreThe Salt and Light Chorale is an SATB choir that sings MUSIC from a variety of genres such as: Gospel, Spirituals, Jazz, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Russian Choral MUSIC. This choir is partnered with a non-profit organization called the New York Community Alliance for Sickle Cell Anemia Inc. We plan to use our concert venues for aiding this organization's cause. Our conductor John Hunter II is a young but competent conductor. He received his Master's in Choral Conducting from Mansfield University.
