The group was founded in 2001 in Leioa's the Music School by Basilio Astulez, its current conductor. Kantika's repertorie has always balanced folk, sacrum and contemporary music. Due to the projects such as operas, international tours and TV concerts the Choir enjoys a fine popularity.

Members include School staff, pupils (over 16), Employees of council, members of the community. Anyone can join and we have lots of fun, learning basic singing techniques and developing a repertoire of an eclectic choice of music. New members are always welcome.

They were under the tu...  moreEast Rand Male Symphony was established in August 1990 by the members of the then Kenneth Masekela SSS Boys Choir after winning the TUATA National School Choir Competition in the category of Boys Choirs for the 4th successive year. They were under the tutelage of Mojalefa Motloung. The Choir is made up of members from the East Rand which is now affectionately known as Ekurhuleni. The young men who established the Choir in 1990 are now responsible men taking their place in their communities. We currently have over 35 members of which ages range from 20 to 50. We are still under the baton of Mojalefa Motloung who also forms part of our Conductors Forum.  less

With members graduated from Hong Kong traditional Schools like Diocesan Boys’ School, Belilios Public School, St. Paul’s Coeducation College, Ying Wa Girls’ School, St. Stephen’s Girls’ College, St. Paul’s College, Wah Yan College Kowloon, and also universities like the Hong Kong University and the Chinese University, the group was immediately invited by the HKSAR government to a celebration performance in early July 2010. The group also presented a standard professional program of sacred music in its first concert “Inspiratio” in August 2010, and a themed concert, featuring a range of masterpieces of Chinese Choral music,「聲．華」in August 2011, which won critical acclaim from local music conductors, composers and musicians.
