TRANSLATION
Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace: according to thy word.
for mine eyes have seen: thy salvation,
Which thou hast prepared: before The face of all people;
To be a light to lighten The Gentiles: and to be The glory of thy people Israel.
Glory be to The FaTher, and to The Son: and to The Holy Ghost;
As it was in The beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen.
The Book of Common Prayer, 1662
ORIGINAL TEXT
Nunc dimittis servum tuum, Domine, secundum verbum tuum in pace:
Quia viderunt oculi mei salutare tuum
Amen. less

Lyrics:
We stay apart and we don't know for how long we have to sing alone
But staying strong so more voices can join us in chorus one day soon.
Though we're apart from everyone, we are a part of everything,
and every day everyone in different ways and places is facing this difficult phase.
So don't lose heart, let's make a start, let's make our art.
We're here to stay, we're here to say we'll play our part.
We stay afar and we can't see The ending; The future's still unknown.
We still stay strong separated in space; not in spirit, not in song.
Though we're apart from everyone, we are a part of everything,
and every day everyone in different ways and places is facing this difficult phase.
So don't lose hea... less

Ola Gjeilo’s Dark and Luminous Night portrays The passage of The soul from mortality to its union
with God. Based on The 16th century poem by a major figure of The Counter-Reformation, St. John
of The Cross, The piece depicts a soul leaving its “still house” and venturing into The night. Seemingly fearless, The soul is guided out of The darkness by The light of love; Luminous Night reveals The soul’s fulfillment.
Lyrics: St. John of The Cross

fired with love’s urgent longings
– ah, The sheer grace! –
I went out unseen,
my house being now all stilled.
In darkness, and secure,
