Participation always begins in the Fall semester, and continues all the way to graduation commencement in June. In 1968, the Choir was awarded the status of a National Choir. Over the years, the Choir has been led by many talented conductors, e.g. Centis Kriķis, Kārlis Beinerts, Edvīns and Inga Dziļums, Ints Teterovskis, etc. Today the conductors of the Choir are Evita Taranda and Zane Zilberte; Choir master is Roberts Hansons.
The repertoire of the Choir varies, as performances include all sorts of music from the time of renaissance to modern music or music written by contemporary artists, e.g. Paul McCartney's oratorio "Ecce Cor Meum" or Czech composer Petr Eben's music "De Circuito Aeterno".

Somerville Choir is curr... moreThe Choir of Somerville College Oxford, in its present form, was founded by Francis Knights and Sam Bayliss in 2001. The Choir sings evensong every Sunday during term and performs in concerts organised by Somerville Music Society. Somerville Choir is currently being conducted by David Crown. He is assisted by the two organ scholars, Douglas Knight and Robert Pecksmith (http://www.robert-smith.org.uk ), and Choir manager Stefan Schwarz.
Since David Crown took over as Director of Chapel Music in 2007, the Choir has been involved in two opera productions (Purcell's 'Dido and Aeneas ' and Gluck's 'Orfeo ed Euridice') as well as concerts in Oxford, Brighton, Wells, Swindon, Upton upon Severn and Steeple Aston. In recent years the Choir has also sung evensong at Southwark, Worcester, Winchester, Wells and Berlin Cathedrals.

We aim to be the most entertaining male voice Choir in the South West and for the City of Truro to be proud of us. The ethos of the Choir is to have fun and enjoy singing. Each year we host a visiting Choir and also spend a weekend away.
We are a registered charity, and our current membership is over 50.We give approximately a dozen concerts a year less
