The Concert Theme focused on The damaging nature of gossip and The larger meaning of how words are powerful and have greater impact than we realize. Based on a well-known Jewish folk tale, The piece is largely sung in Yiddish, featuring narrated passages in English, with The moral resolution in Hebrew. Byrd's Ave Verum Corpus appeared in his Gradualia, two volumes of liturgical polyphony published in 1605 and 1607. Primarily devoted to use within The major feasts of The church calendar, some of The included items in The 1605 volume do not belong to The main sphere of works. The Ave Verum Corpus is one of These. It is a popular work of Byrd's, utilising The well-known Latin text of The Eucharistic hymn. The School's Choir became very successful in The mid-1980s, winning many competitions including The Llangollen Eisteddfod. When School was over, it seemed natural to carry on singing togeTher as a Choir, and The group's achievements included reaching The semi-finals of Sainsbury's Choir of The Year and appearing on Opportunity Knocks. In The 1990's, The Choir moved to Harrow and officially became known as Jubilate. Sarah Stroh took over as Musical Director in 1999 and since Then The Choir has grown significantly, doubling in size to its current membership of 43. There are still some original members of The Choir, who have been singing togeTher for more than 25 years. Our recent competition successes include winning The Barnardo's National Choir competition in March 2013 and The ladies Choir, folk and popular music classes and runner-up with distinction in The sacred music class in The 2012 Mid-Somerset Festival.
