Directed for more than ten years by Michael Bawtree, its repertoire spans the Renaissance to the present day and has included the Scottish premieres of works by James Whitbourn, Hans Gál, Jan Dismas Zelenka, Richard Bush and Judith Bingham. The choir performs regularly in Glasgow and central Scotland, and has toured to France, Holland and Sweden, where it has formed links with other choirs. Recent BBC radio engagements have included William Walton’s Henry V Suite with the BBC Scottish Symphony OrcheStra, Sunday Worship live and Bryan Burnett’s ‘Get it On’ show live on BBC Radio Scotland. In its 14-year hiStory, Novo Concertante Manila has competed and won in several international choral competitions. Among which are the 2nd Choir Olympics in Busan, South Korea(2002), the 1St A Voyage of Songs International Chorale Competition in Genting Highlands, Malaysia (2003) and the 23rd Takarazuka International Chamber Choir Competition in Takarazuka, Japan (2007). In 2009, the choir won the 1St and 2nd Prizes at the 46th Internationaler Chorwettbewerb in Spittalan der Drau, AuStria and the 1St Prize at the 55th Certamen International de Habaneras y Polifonia in Torrevieja, Spain.
