Homechoir is a new way of learning music. You don’t need to be an accomplished singer to take part. Homechoir members watch and sing along with Ben - teaching is one-way so nobody can hear us but the neighbours! - and are also invited to take part in the live text chat with Ben and with fellow singers around the world. There is a vibrant and friendly social community among the choir.
If you can’t join in live, then you can still enjoy the music-making at any time. All our sessions remain available on YouTube after the live streams end for watching on catch-up when you can, and as often as you like.
It is not necessary to be able to read music, and where scores are needed, Ben will display them on screen to help you learn. As well as traditional and classical choral pieces, Ben teaches a huge range of ot... less

of God, give to the Lord glory
and praise, give to the Lord the
glory due his name; adore the
Lord in holy attire.
* The voice of the Lord is
over the waters, the Lord, over
vast waters. The voice of the
Lord is mighty; the voice of the
Lord is majestic.
* The God of glory thunders,
and in his temple all say, "Glory!"
The Lord is enthroned
above the flood; the Lord is
enthroned as king forever. less

I would like to acknowledge the a cappella choir that I sing in, The Stairwell Carollers, and our director Pierre Massie, for their musical inspiration these past 26 years.
I would also like to thank my friends in our "Ad Hoc Chorale" for testing out this piece in one of our informal workshops and offering valuable comments.
And with deepest appreciation to my brother Adam Rain and my friend Geneviève Lajoie for their invaluable support throughout my composing journey. less

In 1985 the choir became an Oakham House society open to Ryerson students, faculty and staff. In 1987 membership was opened to the general public.
The choir is currently made up of Ryerson undergraduates and alumni, current and retired faculty members and people from all ages and walks of life in the community. It ranges in size from 60-80 members. A core of long term members makes it possible to maintain high standards and perform a demanding repertoire.
Under Matthew's direction, the choir has performed over 50 concerts and on several occasions performed at Ryerson graduation ceremonies. In 1986 the choir competed in three categories at the Kiwanis Festival, winning first place in two categories and receiving high marks in all three.
The choir continues to perform two major choral works per season in at least two concerts accompanied b... less

Wheatbelt by Iain Grandage, text by Kevin Gillam. The work portrays the hot summer of a Western Australian wheat-farming scene. Grandage's piece goes to the heart of the landscape as does the original poem. Heat, hot easterly breezes, the view from a rocking chair on an old verandah, sunburnt bones, running your hands across the wheat - all these images are described in the music.
Voyces is a small choral ensemble based in Perth, Western Australia. They specialise in contemporary choral repertoire.
This is a live recording from Voyces 'Australiana' concert from August 2012 at the Perth Town Hall. They are conducted by Dr. Robert Braham. less

This five-voice setting uses poignant word-painting to bring the "sorrow of sorrows" from the Book of Lamentations to life. It remains one of the most intimate and emotionally raw works in the sacred choral repertoire.
