Voxtet was founDed by Martin Mikeš and his several friends. A year before, there was already a male Vocal group consisting of six members called MIKE 6, the establishment of which was inspired by a US Vocal group TAKE 6. Voxtet was basically formed by subsequent addition of female singers to MIKE6.
The formation of Voxtet started out with nine persons but, during the first three years, it ca
me down to the current six members. Most of the singers in Voxtet have their musical background in various choirs. Some of them still sing in Jihlava’s famous PS Campanula choir.
1999
Voxtet’s first concert took place on 31 May 1999 in Jihlava’s Horácké theatre. From then on, Voxtet’s performed at various minor events as well as its own big shows.
1999-2001
At the beginning, Voxtet was remarkable especially due to the absolute lack of a distinct dramaturgy. The main part of its repertoire was based on Vocal transcripts of popular songs, folk, gospel and jazz songs. However, Voxtet’s repertoire currently ten... less
