The choir regularly takes part in local, national and international festivals and competitions.

However, music can be made available for those who want it. W...  moreBishop Road Community choir is open to all in the local community. We are a mixed, non-audition choir. All songs are taught by ear and we don’t expect anyone to learn the words off by heart. However, music can be made available for those who want it. We sing a range of different songs, including pop, gospel, world music and classical. We mainly sing songs with piano accompaniment, provided by our famous pianist, Geoff. We hold our own annual concert, and we are often invited to sing at other local events such as the local MayFest. Our members come along for “enjoyment, friendship and satisfaction as well as singing with a group of like-minded people”. Singing is reputed to release endorphins in the brain, and we’ve certainly noticed amongst us a sense of well-being following rehearsals and in particular, concerts. We are a very sociable bunch and often meet for a drink at the Chimp House on Gloucester Road following our rehearsal on Thursday evenings. We are located in Oslo an has a very broad repertoar from medieval to contemporary music. We sing in many languages and in many genres; classical, church music, romantic songs, folk music, jazz; with our main focus in classical music. We have been singing for 15 years and held concerts in several European capitals. Taking our singing seriously, we are a very social singers who likes to perform with other choirs or musicians.

The chorale is from Northern California in the San Francisco Bay Area. We perform twice a year in April and November. The choir also travels internationally to such places as Canada, Italy, Hungary, Puerto Rico, Morocco, and Spain. Our goal when we travel is to collaborate with choirs from the region we are visiting and perform concerts together. Our repertoire ranges from Mozart to Ola Gjeilo to Eric Whitacre and many more.
