ECU Music Department as part of the School of Fine Arts is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.  

The Chorale is an adult auditioned (SATB) community based chorus based in NE Philadelphia. Our current Artistic Director is Gary Eslinger. We perform 2-6 concerts per year at venues throughout the five county Philadelphia area.

Harmonic Voices Chorale is an interdenominational ensemble for Children, Teenagers and Young Adults aimed at raising and nurturing young voices for excellent performance.

The University Chorale is the touring ensemble for the choral department. The ensemble performs a wide spectrum of the finest choral literature. The group performs extensively throughout the Southwest and will be singing at several venues in Washington D.C. during December of 2013. The group primarily consists of vocal music majors, however, there are singers representing several other academic disciplines. The University Chorale has been under the direction of J. Steven Walker since 1984. Dr. Walker is the Director of Choral Activities and a Linscheid Distinguished Teaching Professor at East Central University. He has served on the music faculty at ECU since 1983.  less

In this time the choir has participated in the Madrid Community choir contest, obtaining the first prize in 2009 and 2010, and the secón prize in 2007 and 2008 Within the choir activities, we could also mention their participation in theatre productions of the musicals Persephone and Midas by Steve Pogson, with which they obtained the first prize in the Vademorillo theatre contest. They were also awarded first prize in the Community of Madrid theatre contest, with the musical Super Jim, a play which was written specially for the choir by the British authors Steve Pogson and George Simmers. The work of the choir is not solely centred on the training of new singers and preparing concerts, since its beginning we have firmly believed that a junior choir should be innovative, and, year after year the choir has sought after original works by Spanish auth...    less

TAIKA practices in The Hagu...  moreTAIKA (magic, charm, hex and conjuration) Choir was founded in 2012 by its conductor Master of music Karla-Maria Toiviainen. In a short time the choir has achieved a valuable role in the Finnish community in The Netherlands. TAIKA practices in The Hague. The choir has a wide repertoire, ranging from folk to pop, with an emphasis on Finnish female choral music. However, the choir enthusiastically performs songs from all around the world. The choir performs in a wide range of events hosted by businesses and organisations. In the spring of 2015 the choir was performing for the first time abroad - in Finland. Summer 2017 choir was in Verona, Italy, taking a part of an international choir festival.  less
