Comprising both Choir and period-instrument orchestra, The Sixteen’s total commitment to the music it performs is its greatest distinction. A special reputation for performing early English polyphony, masterpieces of the Renaissance, bringing fresh insights into Baroque and early Classical music and a diversity of 20th-century music, is drawn from the passions of conductor and founder Harry Christophers.
At home in the UK, The Sixteen are “The Voices of Classic FM” and Associate Artists of The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester. The group promotes The Choral Pilgrimage, an annual tour of Britain's finest cathedrals bringing music back to the buildings for which it was written. The Sixteen has recently featured in the highly successful BBC television series, Sacred Music, presented by actor Simon Russell Beale - a second series which focused on the music of Brahms, Bruckner, Fauré, Pärt and Tave... less

We rehearsed for most of the day in two-Choir sections, with our four Choral directors, Scott Inglis-Kidger, Sarah Tenant-Flowers, Riccardo Bonci and Jonny Davies. After lunch we began to put the sections together. At 4pm we brought all 8 Choirs together and Scott Inglis-Kidger led a most thrilling final performance.
The day marked the end of the 2012 workshops but fear not, our 2013 Choral Workshops series - Perfect Playlist - is now live on our website. platinumconsort.com/perfect-playlist.html We look forward to seeing you soon!

Dealing with Disappointment
Every life needs aspirations—along with goals to help us achieve them. Our goals can be like the banks of a river, guiding the flow of our ambitions. Making plans and striving to accomplish them helps channel our efforts and energies toward the things that matter most to us.
But what about when we fail? How do we respond when, despite our earnest efforts, we don’t quite reach those high aspirations? In short, how do we deal with disappointment?
The natural response is to feel discouraged, disheartened. It might seem that all our planning and work were wasted. We may even question our aspirations—were our ... less

Membership is open to anyone with or without Choral experience. We aim for high standards, and of course strong singers are always valued – but you don’t have to be able to read music, and there are no auditions. The age range of members stem from 20 to over 70 so there is room for everyone. If you’re not sure which voice part you are then Christopher Wray, our Musical Director, can help you with this.
The Choir performs three public concerts each year, at Easter, in the Summer and at Christmas. We also support the local communities by singing at various events and this includes raising funds for charities.
Each year we also sing away from London which combines singing to another community, or combining a performance with their Choir, with a fun day out. At times we take more extensive trips and you can see details on these events in our ‘News Items’ section of the website.
FHCS is also a very social Choir and apart from a... less
