We rehearsal three times a month, on a Friday evening and sing four services a month, including Evensong on The first Sunday of every month.
We also often host come and sing days and various workshops, our two most recent projects have been on Buxtehude's Membra Jesu Nostri and Mozart's Requiem.
Our MD is Aljosa Skorja, a young Slovenian conductor, RNCM graduate, living and working in The North of England.

This figure is known as "The Green Man" and was mainly a norThern European and Celtic symbol of The regeneration of life, a symbol of May, and The return of spring.

FHCS was formed in 1951 and has grown into an ambitious 100-strong choir. Membership is open to anyone with or without choral experience. We aim for high standards, and of course strong singers are always valued – but you don’t have to be able to read m... moreFHCS was formed in 1951 and has grown into an ambitious 100-strong choir. Membership is open to anyone with or without choral experience. We aim for high standards, and of course strong singers are always valued – but you don’t have to be able to read music, and There are no auditions. The age range of members stem from 20 to over 70 so There is room for everyone. If you’re not sure which voice part you are Then Christopher Wray, our Musical Director, can help you with this.
The Choir performs three public concerts each year, at Easter, in The Summer and at Christmas. We also support The local communities by singing at various events and this includes raising funds for charities.
Each year we also sing away from London which combines singing to anoTher community, or combining a performance with Their choir, with a fun day out. At times we take more extensive trips and you can see details on These events in our ‘News Items’ section of The website.
