The FGC "Golden Girls are proud of being the founder members of this young up and coming Girls Choir in the Western Cape. FGC is a High School choir that is comprised of Girls between the ages of 13 and 18.

Canterbury Girls Choir is a non selective choir for Girls aged between 7 and 18 from schools in the Canterbury area. The Girls perform on a regular basis across Kent and regularly travel to Northern France for concert performances.

It was most recently awarded the OPUS KLASSIK in 2021 for the music film „STIMMENÜBERLEBEN“ (Anne Frank: A Living Voice) and the „Kinderchorlandpreis“ of the Deutsche Chorjugend for very good children‘s choir work. The choir also won several first prizes at the German Choir Competition and at international competitions in Warsaw/Poland, Venice/Italy, Helsingborg/Sweden, Neerpelt/Belgium, the Harmony Festival in Limburg, the Johannes Brahms Festival in Wernigerode and the Vienna World Piece Choral Festival. The musical programme includes polyphonic literature for equal voices from the Renaissance to the modern age. We are Girls who become like family through our shared passion for music. Each member auditioned by our choirmaster, Andre van der Merwe, and attends Stellenberg High School. Our repertoire consists mainly of Gospel, Acapella, Classical, Folk/Ethnic, and Sacred music. We compete in various national and international competitions and strive to share beautiful music with the world while being cultural ambassadors for our country. The Spinnakerettes reach a new high in 2014. Presenting their best performance to date: The Girls were very happy to come home to Portsmouth with a 5th place medal. Hooray!!!

The singing Girls had alot of fun performing to a massive audience at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton when UK Olympic medallist Diver Pete Waterfield made a special appearance. Lots of Laughs from the audience, and much amusement in the Chorus!
