Joshua's music is BELOVED by audiences across MN and the upper-Midwest. His music fuses many styles and techniques; Ancient chant, Medieval organum, Russian orthodox liturgy, and the shimmering harmonies of modern choral music, to name a few. Audience members often comment that Josh's music is their favorite part of a From Age to Age concert, or they will ask Josh why we didn't perform another known favorite of theirs that Josh has written. Nice's music is well suited for advanced high-school, collegiate, community and professional choirs. Joshua is accepting commissions for the upcoming 2012-2013 season. If you're interested in commissioning Joshua to write a piece for your group, and/or if you would like to purchase his music, email: joshua_g_nice@hotmail.com or find him on facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Joshua-G-Nice/274021048193  less

The choir will be accompanied by celebrated soloists, Ceferina Penny, Jorge Navarro Colorado and Ashley Riches, and The Purcell Orchestra. This will be the seventh KCS concert featuring Haydn’s BELOVED tour de force in their 76-year history. But it is notable as it will be the first KCS Creation in the Royal Borough since 1987. More recently in 2013 Andrew Griffiths, the KCS Musical Director, conducted KCS in an acclaimed version at Cadogan Hall. Another special feature is that, for the first time, KCS will sing the work accompanied by The Purcell Orchestra of period instruments, enhancing the colour of music already suffused with awe, delight and humour. For lovers of Haydn’s masterpiece, this is an unmissable event. And for those unfamiliar with it, you are in for an exhilarating ride, as Haydn’s breathtaking musical invention propels us from primal chaos...    less

Pokarekare Ana was originally written in 1912 as a bid to win the heart of Paraire Henare Tomoana's BELOVED, Kuini Ripeka Ryland. Paraire had fallen in love with Kuini but her family refused to give their blessing to a marriage between the two. A lovelorn Paraire composed Pokarekare Ana in which he vowed his eternal love. He declared this passion by singing Pokarekare Ana at Te Poho-o-Rawiri Marae to Kuini in front of her Ngati Porou elders. The family was won over by his convincing performance and granted him their daughter's hand. How placid are the ripples of restless Waiapu, Dear they know of your returning, from far across the sea. Dear Heart of mine, I'll wait for thee, MY love is thine alone, to eternity. This outdoor performance was the culmination of a six-week project which creates a choir from scratch for one night only. Each winter and summer, Chris Rowbury gathers a random bunch of singers from in and around Ipswich. There are no auditions and all s...    less
