It was written by Abraham ("Abramek") Koplowicz, a Jewish boy who was exterminated by the Nazis during the Holocaust. Abramek was born in 1930 in Lodz, Poland, and died 1944 in the infamous concentration camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau. He wrote this poem during the time that his family was trapped in the Lodz ghetto. This poem was not found until 1983 when Eliezer ("Lolek") Grynfeld, the poet's half-brother, discovered it among their late father's belongings. Choristers who sing this work will be transported on a magical flight around the world through time and space along with their audiences.  less

Con los nervios a fl...  more"I Dreamed a Dream " tomó un significado especial, en el que fue nuestro primer concierto con obras completaMente nuevas para el coro. Nuestro sueño no hace falta soñarlo en pasado, lo soñamos cada vez que nos subimos a un escenario. Con los nervios a flor de piel, que se notaron, por los estrenos, desgranamos cada una de las obras, nuevas , frescas, como todo aquello que escribe , compone, o en donde "mete la mano" Sergio Rodríguez , nuestro director. Dejarse llevar por sus gestos, le da otro significado a la palabra "cantar". Muchas gracias al ISTIC ( Instituto Superior de Teología de las Islas Canarias )y a la Universidad de La Laguna por la invitación , a D. Juan Pedro Rivero que nos trató con una amabilidad que no está de moda y por supuesto al público asistente. Cuando cantas y escuchas "bravo" varias veces, piensas que algo estás haciendo bien . A los polifonicxs, muchas gracias, por el esfuerzo, por las horas, por renovarse en cada ensayo y en cada concierto. El camino se empezó hace un año y seguimos....    less

It was founded in 1936 as the Dow Male Chorus with membership from the Men of the Dow Chemical Company. In 1961, Dow discontinued its Music DepartMent and the chorus became the Men of Music and along with the rest of the Dow Music DepartMent formed The Music Society under director Ted Vosburgh. Since then there were several woMen directors who continued to lead the chorus. The Men of Music continues today providing excellant Men's four part harmony with our present very talented director, Grace Marra, who joined the chorus in 1994. We also appreciate the talents of Laurie Habedank who serves as our accompanist.  less
