The choir’s work was interrupted for several years during its members’ academic education, as well as during their participation in different musical projects. The present line-up has been steady since 2006. Their repertoire offers a variety of styles of great difficulty and chromatic richness, and tries to take advantage of the cultural and geographic circumstances which make of the Canary Islands a multicultural place. A remarkable feature of the group is their willingness to innovate within the choral music. Their versatility and the variety of repertoire they face can be seen in the different projects they have taken part in: short operas, official or private events, festivals, and monographic concerts on different subjects. Members come from Balfron, Killearn, Drymen, Kippen, Aberfoyle and further afield. We rehearse in Balfron Church on Monday nights at 7.30. We are under the musical direction of Mark Evans, and perform publicly at both Christmas and Spring.

Its creative efforts and dynamic development in 1999 permitted the choir under the sponsorship of t...  moreThe POKROFF (translation: Protection of the Virgin Mary) Chamber Choir was set up in 1993 by its director and trumpeter Andrey Goryachev as a church choir. Its creative efforts and dynamic development in 1999 permitted the choir under the sponsorship of the Voice of Russia Radio Company to record its first CD – “Divinity in Sound”. Two more CDs were recorded in 2003 and 2005, devoted to Christmas and Easter. Since 2000 the choir began touring not only in Russia but also abroad, visiting Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, France, Italy, Ukraine, Moldavia, Croatia, Montenegro, BiH and Estonia. The choir also took part in television shows in Russia and abroad, such as in the “Bregenzer Advent” in 2002. Apart from regular concerts and recordings, the choir also minds it spiritual roots, regularly taking part in church services, both routine and special ceremonial, such as Episcopal services at which it frequently performs.
