Each 3 weeks we learn a new song together and perform 4-5 times per year. Texts are available in Hebrew and in Phonetics, we translate and learn to pronounce and sing together, and have an archive of all the songs and the various harmonies recorded separately to make it easier to learn and join. It's a lot of fun. Hebrew Groove is a young, contemporary, Hebrew vocal group based in Amsterdam. The repertoire consists of Hebrew pop songs from all periods, retouched with the groovy piano and close harmony vocal arrangements of conductor Noam Vazana. Hebrew Groove has performed at: Amsterdam MuseumNacht, Paradiso Choir Festival, Salaam-Shalom solidarity event for Charlie Hebdo, Namen en Nummers, Koor en More Festival and more.  less

The present Society was founded in 1961, so we are now in our 51st year and still going from strength to strength. We perform three or four main concerts during the year, with programmes featuring anything from Bach (Christmas Oratorio, St. John Passion) to Beatles, Gounod (Messe Solennelle de Sainte Cecile) to Gershwin, Rutter (Requiem, Magnificat, carols) and Haydn (Creation, Te Deum) to Rogers and Hart.  less

Swan. Foreward: Santiago Veros wrote Almas de Barro at the age of 19, dedicating it to a young woman who at the time was shy and with whom he rarely talked. This piece intimately describes the moments during Music theory classes when the two would look at each other continuously, youthfully, and silently, as if unable to do anything else. The piece, written as a counterpoint assignment, was intended to be performed during Music theory class as a declaration of love. The idea was to make a Musical representation of those moments. The piece begins without words, the voices representing youthful looks. They come together and occasionally dodge each other to highlight the discomfort ...    less
