The ensemble is currently fo...  moreVocal Ensemble GENTLEMEN singers from Hradec Králové was established in 2003. It has become one of the most significant Czech music ensembles during its history and it is desired not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad. The ensemble is currently formed by these singers: Jakub Kubín (countertenor), Martin Ptáček (tenor), Lukáš Merkl (tenor), Radek Mach (tenor), Aleš Malý (baritone), Martin Struna (baritone), Richard Uhlíř (bass), and Václav Kovář (bass). The repertoire of the ensemble includes the periods from the Gregorian chant up till arrangements of modern popular melodies while the most important part is formed by the vocal compositions of the 19th and 20th century, Czech, Moravian and Slovak folk songs and contemporary compositions which were often arranged or even composed directly for the Gentlemen singers by composers with whom the ensemble cooperates closely (e.g. Jan Vičar, Jaroslav Krček, Jan Jirásek, Stephen Hatfield, or Mark van Platen). We are one of Surrey's key Chamber Choirs. Based in Woking we perform a wide range of music in the local area. Concerts include charitable events, official celebrations and our own seasonal performances.

Individual song parts recorded by the choristers using their own equipment following lead videos made by our Director, Pierre. Pierre then put together the video using Final Cut Pro. A message from the Director: "Christmas 2020 is the first year in our 43-year history we have no live concerts, so we present this Virtual Concert of 6 carols. I am proud of my musical colleagues for putting these videos together. I thank them for their loyalty to our fans and their fellow Choir members, and for their diligence in preparing individual performances to such a demanding degree of musicianship. We all share an understanding of how important it is right now to share the joy of song with the world.
