A week-long festival of music, friendship and discovery awaits! Highlights will include a final night Gala Concert in Worcester's magnificent cathedral, featuring the World Premiere of a specially commissioned work from UK composer Bob Chilcott (Five Days that Changed the World with words by Charles Bennett), individual choirs' concerts in venues in and around the historic city of Worcester, sight-seeing trips and activities for visiting choirs, Welcome Concert in the cathedral, and a concert for participants given by a leading UK vocal group. With the festival being the first event of its kind in the UK, we have taken as our theme, 'Peace & Unity', to reaffirm the continuing mission of ECA-EC, and our own shared aspirations, to work towards a more peaceful world through the engagement of young people from different nations coming togethe...    less

We recently recorded this with Nigel Owens for a TV programme. He always wanted to sing his favourite song with a male Voice choir. We in Dowlais were so pleased to help him realise his ambition. By engaging in an intense study, could soon join the most important events of prestigious choralcompetitions earning statements in Arezzo and Ravenna in 1978 and 1979 and Gorizia in 1982. The polyphonic sacred and secular music certainly represents the most relevant part of the repertoire that the Polyphonic Group “Claudio Monteverdi” successfully brings to churches and theaters both in Italy and abroad. Among the repertoire, we can find 1500’s and Baroque musical compositions by Palestrina, Da Victoria, Gallus, Viadana, Hassler, Monteverdi. Among the Romantic authors, on the other hand, we can find Schubert, Schumann, Sibelius, and Rossini. Concerning modern Polyphonic music: Poulenc, Kodaly, Bardos, Pizzetti, and Orff.
