Th... moreThe Koro San Isidro Labrador de CAA is the official choir of San Isidro Labrador Chapel of Mary Queen of Apostles Parish (MQAP) located in the cities of Parañaque and Las Piñas. Formed on 1995, the choir mainly sings at masses at the chapel every week. The members are composed of High School, college students and out of School youth and employees who lives in Timog, CAA, Las Piñas City that is why the former name of the choir was Timog Youth Choir. The name was changed since the choir started to expand its age range from 15-20 years old to open age as long as the member would fit the singing style of the choir. The choir usually held Christmas concerts and performs at quarterly general assembly of choirs in the parish. Last June 2010, the choir became the Champions of the first-ever Choral Competition of the MQAP in line with the parish’s 25th Anniversary wherein they bested other choirs which comprises the whole parish. The Student Union Choir of the University of Turku (TYY Choir for short, established in 1987) is a mixed choir of approximately 60 Singers from all the faculties and even outside the university. In August 2009, Mikko Sidoroff started his work as the choir’s conductor.
The choir’s repertoire mainly consists of a wide variety of a cappella songs. The choir can be found performing in Turku as well as other cities many times throughout the year. Traditionally, there is a quartet concert in January, a spring concert right after May Day (Vappu) and an advent concert in December.
The TYY Choir has participated in many venues outside of Turku. The choir represented Finland in the international choir competition in Coleraine, Ireland in 2006. The competition could not have gone any better as the choir won in the category of mixed choir and was given the award as best choir. The style of singing is more 'pop' than classical and the choice of music reflects this, with the repertoire including show-tunes, popular songs from the 1930... moreWe are a group of women singing a cappella four-part harmony music arranged in barbershop style. The style of singing is more 'pop' than classical and the choice of music reflects this, with the repertoire including show-tunes, popular songs from the 1930s to today, as well as classic barbershop arrangements. There are strong links to musical theatre in that most songs are choreographed, and performing skills are a key element in making a song work.
We rehearse every Tuesday, 6:30pm-9:00pm, in central London between Kings Cross and St Paul's. We are always on the look out for enthusiastic and talented women so if you're interested in joining, do drop a line to hello@londoncitySingers.co.uk for details. less
