Estas canciones de cuna se cantaban principalmente para los niños menores de 6 meses, ya que se buscaban en ellos signos de enfermedad y muerte. Estas canciones de cuna han sido una forma de que la madre libere la tensión y el agotamiento. También se cantaban para alentar al niño a ser fuerte, o aunque macabro, posiblemente para decirle al niño cómo la muerte sería mejor para él en algún caso.  less

The Vocal section of the Goldberg Ensemble, consisting of about 22 singers coming from various established Choirs in Malta, brings together choral enthusiasts to perform primarily baroque choral music in a more exhaustive manner. The musicians too are distinguished performers in their own right who tour Europe extensively, and who are versatile on both modern and baroque instruments. The ensemble's director, Michael Laus, is the inspiration and motivator of the Goldberg Ensemble, whose harpsichord playing and conducting have been highly acclaimed by the international press.  less

It also performs regularly at the Jeunesse (Musikalische Jugend Österreichs) concert series in Vienna and has formed a special partnership with this institution.
