The concert theme focused on the damaging nature of gossip and the larger meaning of how words are powerful and have greater impact than we realize. Based on a well-known Jewish folk tale, the piece is largely sung in Yiddish, featuring narrated passages in English, with the moral resolution in Hebrew. Paul Rudoi, winner of MCA's 2011 "Young Composer's Composition Competition" and member of Cantus (also based in Minneapolis), has written a special composition for the combined ensembles that will be premiered in Milwaukee, then repeated in two performances when MCA travels to Minneapolis to perform with the National Lutheran Choir on their All Saints' programs November 3 and 4, 2012. We Annually we perform two large concerts with professional soloists and orchestral musicians in Carlow, ‘Glory of Christmas’ in the National Concert Hall and annual ‘Christmas Crackers’ family concert in the George Bernard Shaw Theatre, Carlow. We have a remarkable repertoire of many Choral works such as Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St. Mathews & St. John Passion, Verdi’s Requiem, Haydn’s The Creation & Seasons, Brahm’s Requiem & many more. Fast balladenhaft setzt der Sopran mit der eingängigen Melodie ein, ruhig begleitet vom restlichen Chor, um das wunderbare Ereignis der Geburt Jesu im mehrfach wieder erklingenden, gemeinsamen Alleluia zu feiern. The magic of Christmas and the incarnation of Jesus have been directly blended in the music of this moving O magnum mysterium by Chris Artley. This Choral piece, which Artley composed for the Nelson Summer School Choir, begins with the voices arranged calmly arising while the words "O magnum" are reiterated.
