We sing a-cappella style music in four-part harmony, called Barbershop. the songs we sing are varied, some old classics, some modern with a twist! In an effort to stay committed to singing and performing at the highest possible level, we compete each year in a national contest and we also perform our own annual Show to raise our profile in the community. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 8-9.15pm at St Margaret's Church hall on Putney Park Lane. Term starts next Wednesday 4th September. Rehearsals fee is £5 per session but there is no charge for your first attendance. About us: We are a local friendly choir that has been going for several years now. We currently have about 30 members and we sing a wide range of music from all around the world. We sing both acapella and with piano accompaniment but there is no requirement to be able to read music. We put on concerts twice a year and recently enjoyed singing at the Barnes Fair. We also meet outside rehearsal times for social events! Recruitment: We would love to recruit new members and welcome anyone that wants to come along and see what it's all about. We sing music from the early 1900's through to more modern songs such as Billy Joel, the Rat Pack etc. the chorus focuses on improving singing techniques and making chords "ring" while at the same time simply having fun. We love it when a 4 part chord is correctly tuned and the chord just locks together and harmonics (or overtones) ring out loud and strong. We compete every year in local contest as a mean of measuring our progress against similar groups but we just love to perform for the public and so our contest activities are very well balanced with public performance.
