Cassie Luftspring was appointed as Elektra’s new Artistic Director in 2025 following Morna Edmundson’s departure at the end of the choir’s 38th season. Cassie brings her unique vision and expertise to lead Elektra into an exciting new chapter.
Elektra is known for its brilliant programming and multidisciplinary initiatives, with collaborative artist Dr. Stephen Smith playing a pivotal role in their spellbinding performances.
As a champion of Canadian composers, Elektra has commissioned and premiered over 100 Canadian works over the past three decades and actively seeks out new or unknown repertoire for adult treble voices.

The "Ladies of Melody Choir" was founded in the city of Tartus in November 2022 by Maestro Bishr Issa, a graduate of the Higher institute of Music and a musician in the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra. He was also the former conductor of the "Chamber Choir of the High institute of Music" in Damascus, and the conductor of the "Urjwan Choirs" in Tartous.
