Our repertoire includes a wide spectrum of choral works, and commissioned works by distinguished Hong Kong composers, including Dr. Chan Hing Yan, Dr. Victor Chan, Dr. Daniel Law, Mr. Law Wing Fai, Dr. Phoebus Lee, Mr. Michael Mak and Dr. Richard Tsang. The Chorus regularly holds annual large-scale concerts with its official orchestral partner, The Learners Orchestra, in addition to its other yearly choral concerts of a smaller scale. We specialise in songs and chants from around the world, conveying each song’s intention and wairua - whether that is a quiet longing for your homeland, celebrating the joy of independence won, the despair of loved ones lost or the delicate beauty of a song of peace. We perform regularly at festivals, resthomes, public and corporate events spreading joy and inspiration through our communities. We are a group of friends who got to know each other while singing in the same academic or Chamber choirs. Eventually, our passion for the classical music led us to create our own vocal ensemble. In our repertoire there are also some pop music arrangements.

" - Orlando Gibbons (1583 - 1625) Program notes: A famous text also famously used by Gibbons himself for his own Madrigal, Hailstork here pays homage to the work's 16th-century roots. An early composition (written while in college) from the proflic composer, Hailstork combined his own language with his love for choral literature to create a piece reminiscent of the Renaissance with a modern flair. The harmonic language harkens back to a hexachordal modality of the 16th century, uses an unaccompanied SATB choir, and employs varied moments of imitative polyphony and homophony. We are passionate about polyphony! We love to sing music from regions around the world which have a strong tradition of singing in harmony. Music from Eastern Europe, Georgia, Africa and Jamaica etc finds its way into our repertoire. We also love to sing some beautiful classical works and Mozart, Bortniansky and Bach is much loved by the Singers. Most of our music is unaccompanied, except when our very talented instrumentalists (guitar, harp, cello, ukes, bodhran...) bring their instruments.  less
