In May, 2013, composer Ola Gjeilo spent 3 days on...  more"Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages" (Ola Gjeilo) is sung by The Central Washington University Chamber Choir (Gary Weidenaar, director), with an improvised piano accompaniment played by the composer. In May, 2013, composer Ola Gjeilo spent 3 days on the Central Washington University Campus to join the choir in recording 4 of his pieces. The other three were "Sanctus", "Luminous Night of the Soul", and "Vast Eternal Skies" This performance of Gjeilo's "Ubi Caritas II" is from that session, which included a rendition of the piece sung in in its published (unaccompanied) version as well. This was Mr. Gjeilo's second time on our campus, the first was in the spring of 2011, which resulted in 5 videos and a DVD (http://goo.gl/Xld0o) As of 2013, the CWU Chamber Choir also has recorded videos of the music of Byrd, Monteverdi, Muehleisen, Singh, Victoria, and Rautavaara on YouTube. As Turkiye's first Barbershop style vocal Ensemble, the qartet became the first Turkish member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The quartet has performed at various prestigious venues including Casa Botter, Akbank Sanat, BKM Mutfak, Pera Museum, Borusan Music House, Santa Maria Draperis Church, St. Pierre and St. Paul's Church. In 2017, they received an invitation from Harmony University - Quartet College in Nashville, USA, and became the first Turkish quartet to attend this annual Barbershop convention and performed to international audience. Barbershop Istanbul was greatly appreciated by the audience in Nashville, the birthplace of the genre, as well as in Turkiye. The quartet's repertoire includes not only classical Barbershop arrangements and Barbershop arrangements of popular music, but also Kaan Bayır's works of popular, traditional and classical turkish music arranged in Barbershop style.  less
