Throughout its long history, the Choir has performed almost every major Choral work in the repertoire. The Halifax Choral Society has always aimed high and has traditionally performed with first-rate orchestras, soloists and conductors. Looking through the annals of the Society is to turn back the pages of musical history of the past two centuries.

The 2011 Chamber Choir consists of 12 treble voices, with singers aged 16-24. They take their name after Bruce Springsteen’s album The Seeger Sessions, since their first Concert took place at a lecture on American Folk Music when Springstee...  moreFounded in 2006, The Sessions Voices are one of the most renowned vocal ensembles of Italy. They take their name after Bruce Springsteen’s album The Seeger Sessions, since their first Concert took place at a lecture on American Folk Music when Springsteen was touring Italy in 2006. In 2011 they published their first CD, Songs of Freedom, a collection of protest songs with a strong connection to the Civil Rights Movement. In 2015 TSV published their first original single, “Graces (Dropping Again)” written by ZogaroS. In 2017 TSV will release a concept album of 16 songs and vocal interludes composed and produced by all the girls. “Broken Dream”, written by Chiara Cortez and Emanuele Jorma Gasperi, is the first single published to launch the record.  less

The style of singing is more 'pop' than classical and the choice of music reflects this, with the repertoire including show-tunes, popular songs from the 1930s to today, as well as classic barbershop arrangements. There are strong links to musical theatre in that most songs are choreographed, and performing skills are a key element in making a song work. We rehearse every Tuesday, 6:30pm-9:00pm, in central London between Kings Cross and St Paul's.
