The Peninsula Girls Chorus strives toward a high level of musicianship paired with sensitive interpretations of music from a variety of genres. In our quest to become global citizens of the 21st century, the PGC performs both locally and abroad. We provide a valuable resource to our local community through assorted outreach performances and we participate in prestigious domestic and international music festivals. In addition to musical benefits, the PGC offers opportunities for the development of leadership skills, higher-order thinking, discipline and self-esteem. We teach music, and in the process our girls learn something equally valuable—responsibility.  less

Therefore this musical work was one of the most saleable albums and reached the scale tops of classical as well as ethnical music. Karl Jenkins' popular vocal-instrumental work Adiemus belongs to a sort of symphonic music with a touch of ethnic music. To define Adiemus is the best way to denote it as a "new age" or "progressive" music. Adiemus is formed of a many different kinds of melodies, distinctive harmonies and minimalistic repetitions of musical themes, that Jenkins shaped into an expanded choral work. When I was a junior in college, my mother was fighting breast cancer and my way of coping with it was to write a choral piece for her. A few years later, Kevin F...  moreWhen I was a junior in college, my mother was fighting breast cancer and my way of coping with it was to write a choral piece for her. I wrote “Pour Toi, Mère” (For You, Mother) which premiered at my senior composition recital. A few years later, Kevin Fenton programmed that piece for his choir at FSU. He shared with me his strong connection with the piece at a time when his sister-in-law, Peggy Fenton was also fighting breast cancer. Sadly, Peggy Fenton lost her fight with cancer in 2009. That same year Kevin contacted me and asked if I would write a piece in her memory for her husband and her two daughters. He shared with me a video of a presentation she did at the Mother’s Day banquet at her church, just a few days before her passing. The title of her presentation was “From Hats to Crown”. She shared stories about her life and the many relationship roles one plays: as a daughter, a sister, as a wife, a mother and a teacher. As she talked about each role she wore a different hat. Its goal is to provide a quality opportunity for choral singers to learn or improve their craft. The Chorus sings a wide variety of music, including classical, spiritual, folk, Broadway and old standards. The group presents two concerts each year – at Christmas, and in the Spring. It has performed with the Temecula Vintage Singers, and for the Temecula Arts in the Country festival, as well as many local appearances for deserving organizations. The Chorus rehearses and performs in the Temecula area. The Chorus is one of the Resident Companies performing at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater.
