I wrote “Pour Toi, Mère” (For You, Mother) which premiered at my senior composition recital. A few years later, Kevin Fenton programmed that piece for his choir at FSU. He shared with me his strong connection with the piece at a time when his sister-in-law, Peggy Fenton was also fighting breast cancer. Sadly, Peggy Fenton lost her fight with cancer in 2009. That same year Kevin contacted me and asked if I would write a piece in her memory for her husband and her two daughters. He shared with me a video of a presentation she did at the Mother’s Day banquet at her church, just a few days before her passing. The title of her presentation was “From Hats to Crown”. She shared stories about her life and the many relationship roles one plays: as a daughter, a sister, as a wife, a mother and a teacher. As she talked about each role she wore a different hat. She ended with a crown, shar... is).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">less

Around our shadowy table placed, The spectral bowl before us floats: With wine that none but ghosts can taste, We wash our unsubstantial throats. Three merry ghosts—three merry ghosts— three merry ghosts are we: Let the ocean be port, and we’ll think it good sport To be laid in that red sea. With songs that jovial spectres chaunt, Our old refectory still we haunt. The traveller hears our midnight mirth: "O list!" he cries, "the haunted choir!" The merriest ghost that walks the earth, is sure the ghost of a ghostly friar. Three merry ghosts—three merry ghosts— three merry ghosts are we: Let the ocean be port, and we’ll think it good sport To be laid in that red sea. is).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">less

We are based in Chicago's western suburbs. ECU performs two major concerts each season with Full professional orchestra musicians and pro soloists, and also a mini-concert of our singers in solos and duets with piano. We often appear as featured guest artists with Elmhurst Symphony and in local appearances. Our outstanding volunteer singers come from throughout the Chicago area for a unique musical experience. Our conductor James MacDonald has directed choirs and orchestras throughout the U.S. and overseas, and teaches conducting and music theory. Working with him has made us better singers and more knowledgeable musicians. Please visit our website for information and exact dates of our September and January auditions. If you are on Facebook, join us there for a musical conversation. is).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">less

Through dedication and hard-work, The Harmonious Chorale has carved for itself a niche and an identity which has provided mentoring opportunity for many choral groups in and outside Ghana, staging over thirty five (35) well executed and attended concerts in Ghana alone. In 2018, Harmonious Chorale became Champions of the World Choir Games (Category C28) during its maiden participation in Tshwane, South Africa. It also picked up three Gold Diplomas in the competition. is).getParent().getPrevious().style.display='';$(this).getParent().style.display='none';">less
