As a composer, I tend to lean toward and connect to slow and emotional pieces. I have always been someone who strives to convey emotional complexity, therefore writing an up-tempo piece had to be purposeful and meaningful.
The inspiration for this score comes from the First time I was able to hear my son's heartbeat during an ultrasound. It was a magical and exciting moment that I will never forget; however, leading up to that specific moment there was an element of tension. Six months prior to hearing my son's heartbeat, my wife and I found ourselves in a very different situation with the outcome of an ultrasound. We arrived at the hospital excited to meet our child, only to discover we had silently miscarried. I had never felt so deflated and aimless in one sudden moment. It was as if I was a boat, drifting, with no direction in my life.
Fast forward to this ultrasound with our soon-to-be son. You can imagine the excitement and fear we bo... less

Orchestra Chorus Instrumentalis
Author of the Project and Conductor: Karmina Šilec
Adiemus occupied the imagination of the music-lovers all over the world. Therefore this musical work was one of the most saleable albums and reached the scale tops of classical as well as ethnical music.
Karl Jenkins' popular vocal-instrumental work Adiemus belongs to a sort of symphonic music with a touch of ethnic music. To define Adiemus is the best way to denote it as a "new age" or "progressive" music.
Adiemus is formed of a many different kinds of melodies, distinctive harmonies and minimalistic repetitions of musical themes, that Jenkins shaped into an expanded choral work.

This work is suitable for a soloist or unison choir. The accompaniment is originally scored for piano, but we have rendered it with organ accompaniment. In a liturgical setting, this work is especially suitable for Baptisms and other services that feature the use of sanctified water (healing and commemorative services). Equally, it would make a reflective motet for use during the distribution of Holy Communion. Many thanks to the Swell Vox crew in this video for beautifully performing the piece: Tony Lee, Caleb Smith, Andrew Flores, James Flores (organ).
