It specializes in Choral and early music—notably Renaissance, Baroque, and rarely heard repertoire—and is dedicated to delivering emotionally resonant, historically informed performances. Winner of the Chorus America/ASCAP Alice Parker Award, Crescendo invites Choral singers to audition for its 22nd season.This season, our repertoire spans 16th-century motets, works by Johann Sebastian Bach, and contemporary music in the Piazzolla style, featuring the U.S. premiere of Martín Palmeri’s A Jewish Cantata (2022). The main character – Fauvel – is an incarnation of sin, irrationality, unreliability, dominance, flattery. Fortuna Won’t Be Fauvel’s Match! mocks human egotism, hedonism, hypocrisy and excesses of the governing classes, of secular as well as church rule, a society contaminated by sin and corruption. The ruling class is despotic and greedy, forgetting about the natural equality of people.
