The Winelands Chamber Choir is a fledgling chamber choir based in the Western Cape Winelands District of South Africa, formed in 2010 out of our passion for Choral music, ranging from classical to contemporary.

Spera means hope in Latin, and it is a members’ shared vision on music. All members studied a sacred Choral music under Koji Oguchi, choir director, when they were high school students. They were deeply touched by Oguchi’s music and established the Ensemble Choir SPERA. Making its debut in concert in March 2014 at Tokyo Opera City Recital Hall, SPERA’s music was highly prized and well-reviewed in newspapers. It serves in Masses and services and performs in concerts as an ecumenical choir, composed of students from Kitasato University, International Christian University, Hitotsubashi University and Rikkyo University. We live in the Isle of Man, a small island with a population of about 80,000 situated in the Irish Sea, between England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. It is a Crown Dependency which means it is a self governing possession of the British Crown. We are very proud of our parliament, Tynwald which claims to be the world's oldest parliament in continuous existence, dating back to 979. We also issue our own bank notes, coins and stamps and enjoy a unique perspective in terms of our language, (Manx Gaelic), history, music and art. It is a beautiful island with very varied scenery.
