Using a flexible formation, ranging up to 32 Singers, Arsys explores all choral repertoire, both a cappella and accompanied, from early music – Renaissance, Baroque, Classical – through Romantic and 20th century music to that of the present day. As an enthusiastic advocate of modern repertoire, Arsys regularly commissions new works by living composers.
Conductor Pierre Cao, very attentive to the historical context of each era, sculpts the text of each work with patience and humanity, giving Arsys its unique sound unanimously acclaimed by professionals and public alike:”The sound of this choir is of incredible homogeneity and clarity: perfect intonation, respect of the vocal line and diction, dynamics, and a particular emphasis on the words, which bestows increased life... less

Our repertoire spans the centuries, from the Renaissance to the 21st Century. Our particular speciality is folk music from all over the globe. Cantóirí sings each song in the original language. We are lucky as we have been able to draw on the language skills of choir members from around the world. Comprised of professionally trained musicians, Innismara is dedicated to the performance of the intimate and hidden treasures of the vocal ensemble repertoire. Innismara made its debut in the summer of 2010 at Muses and Minstrels: A Festival of Early Performing Arts held in conjunction with the Cupids 400 celebrations. In collaboration with the Hot Earth Ensemble, Innismara performed music from the late Renaissance and early Baroque, Highlights of which were recorded for national broadcast on CBC Radio.
The success of these performances led to an invitation to participate in a series of workshops and performances in the Labrador Inuit communities of Nunatsiavut in the spring of 2011. The entire exchange project was recorded by film-maker Nigel Markham and CBC radio producer Francesca Swann for a documentary film on the choral tra... less
