The group would like to promote their vast repertoire ... moreFounded in 2001 by Cyrille Rault-Gregorio, the choir of the “Chambre Arthémys” is comprised of 18 singers chosen especially for their vocal and musical talents. These singers also perform as soloists. The group would like to promote their vast repertoire of singing ‘a cappella’ (without instruments) pieces from 16th to 21st century and their different styles. As well as being accompanied by orchestral ensembles, the choir often work with notable composers (Lucian Tuguy, Thibault Maillé, Jean-Christophe Marti…) who help to create the musical pieces. Ranging from traditional concerts to original and artistic experiences, the choir is always seeking to give value to all of the creative initiatives.
In 2006, the choir collaborated with dancers from the Paris Opera House for the ballet of Stéphane Elizabé, “De l'Autre côté à l'amphithéâtre Bastille” (From the other side of the Bastille Amphitheatre). Chorale Bel Canto was founded in 1982 by a group of Whittier College choir Alumni who wished to continue singing after graduating. Director of Choral Activities Stephen Gothold, himself an alumnus, organized the recruiting efforts and the Chorale made its... moreChorale Bel Canto was founded in 1982 by a group of Whittier College choir Alumni who wished to continue singing after graduating. Director of Choral Activities Stephen Gothold, himself an alumnus, organized the recruiting efforts and the Chorale made its debut performance on Saturday, December 4, 1982 at the Whittier Presbyterian Church - a complete performance of Handel’s Messiah.
Since then, the Chorale has sung over one hundred thirty concert programs in the Southern California area. The Chorale performed in Japan in 1994 and at the Hollywood Bowl in 1995 as it joined together with 1,000 singers from America and Japan to sing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. In 2001, members of the Chorale -- along with Whittier College students, alumni, and members of the Imperial Valley Choral Society -- toured Eastern Europe and performed selections of American hymns, spirituals, and sacred songs.
