Founded in 1951 by the late Richard S. Eaton, RES has played a leading role in Edmonton’s cultural community for more than seven decades. In addition to presenting its own concerts, the Choir is a regular guest of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and collaborates frequently with other Edmonton Ensembles, including the Alberta Baroque Ensemble. It has also collaborated with other Canadian Choirs in the past, including the Calgary Philharmonic Chorus, the Vancouver Bach Choir and the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir.  less

Artistic Director: Wallis Peterson, Percussion: Bradley Peterson. This indigenous community, often referred to as The Colorados, is located in the northern coastal region of Ecuador. In the face of modernization, music serves as a tool for this group to preserve their history, traditions, and culture. Tsáchilas music-making includes dance, philosophy, spirituality, cultural traditions, and community involvement with a strong connection to nature and respect for the land. By singing this piece, our Ensemble is actively helping to protect and promote the Tsáchila community. It’s 40+ members perform just about anywhere, private corporate functions, after-show parties, conferences, schools, cabaret functions, clubs, weddings, christenings, funerals, prisons, churches, open-air festivals, theatres and concert halls. LCGC have sung on the soundtrack for Walt Disney’s “The Lion King”, performed for Nelson Mandela during his famous visit to London, officiated at many celebrity weddings and supported Madonna on stage during Live 8.
