In 1989 we began the great tradition of offering students a chance to deepen their exposure and understanding of the choral art through a year-long experience leading up to the celebratory Festival Day. We partner with selected high schools for a year of fun and memorable musical experiences as choir students work collaboratively with their peers from around the Southland. The 2017 Festival culminated in a monumental performance at the awe-inspiring Walt Disney Concert Hall. Choir students from 29 schools joined together to sing as a massive ensemble, experiencing the power of choral music under the direction of Grant Gershon, Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Master Chorale.  less

It typically assembles a choir for a brief time before each performance, then disbands until just before the next Concert when a new choir is formed. The singers may or may not be the same each time. The choir is known for its freshness of sound and heart felt connections with the listener.  

The core of the team consists of students and graduates of the Gdańsk University of Technology. The choir's repertoire is very diverse. The band sings mainly sacral, including orthodox music, but also contemporary and folk. The band sings mainly sacral, including orthodox music, but also contemporary and folk. The choir has rich Concert activity in the country and abroad and with great success has participated in many choral contests and festivals. The ensemble performed hundreds of Concerts and presented its skills at competitions and festivals in Germany, Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary and many others. The choir has recorded a few CDs: "Bogoroditse Devo, Raduisya" from 2008, "Musica Sacra" from 2013, "Canticum Canticorum" from 2017. The University Singers have performed throughout the world, and have sung with a variety of professional orchestras including the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra under the batons of conductors such as Carl St.Clair, John Mauceri, John Williams, and Keith Lockhart.
