In 2024, Elektra expanded its embrace to welcome all adult treble voices, celebrating a diverse and gender-inclusive community of singers. Cassie Luftspring was appointed as Elektra’s new Artistic Director in 2025 following Morna Edmundson’s departure at the end of the Choir’s 38th season. Cassie brings her unique vision and expertise to lead Elektra into an exciting new chapter. Elektra is known for its brilliant programming and multidisciplinary initiatives, with collaborative artist Dr. Stephen Smith playing a pivotal role in their spellbinding performances. As a champion of Canadian composers, Elektra has commissioned and premiered over 100 Canadian works over the past three decades and actively seeks out new or unknown repertoire for adult treble voices. Rory Wilson, an experienced choral conductor from Edinburgh, has been appointed and has begun work with the Choir towards our first concert under his direction in November 2018, based around the Fire Songs of Morten Lauridsen, pairing his settings with settings of the same or similar texts by Renaissance composers.
