In...  moreWe are a historic symphonic chorus that continues to play a vibrant role in the cultural life of the National Capital Region. With approximately 100-115 auditioned members and a professional core of 12 voices,the choir's repertoire spans 6+ centuries . In addition to our annual subscription series, we sing with both the National Arts Centre Orchestra and the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra . The choir has made five international tours to Italy, Spain, Germany and the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom and Ireland . Following an extensive search which attracted a roster of highly- accomplished Choral directors, the impressive and charismatic young conductor and keyboard artist, Jordan de Souza, was appointed Artistic Director and Principal Conductor in July, 2013. It features people with disabilites and those without, from every section of the community in Northern Ireland. The age range is extensive, from seventeen to over seventy but most importantly members are united by their love of singing. We are dedicated to quality performances, music education, and community service. As the resident Choral ensemble of the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, we perform a varied repertoire from classics to Broadway and rock to jazz in two main concerts, one during the Christmas season and one in the spring, with additional benefit and collaborative performances throughout the year. Scheduled auditions for new members are held in August and January of each year. The group meets regularly in the Birnam Arts Centre in the village of Birnam, by Dunkeld, in Perthshire. Just Singin’ grew out of a nightclass which was offered from early 2003 by Birnam Institute and led by folksinger, and trained voice teacher, Christine Kydd. With Christine still a very big part of our culture, Just Singin’ is now a membership-based organisation and charity in its own right. Its programme of events and tutors is coordinated by an active volunteer committee and their work is complemented by a number of supportive group members. We have just released a CD called A Cup o' Kindness, made possible by funding from Griffin Wind Farms Community Fund. It is available on iTunes.  less
