This four part chorus (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) is devoted to music of all styles, including Classical, Broadway and Contemporary tunes. these dynamic and talented singer...  morethe SYC was formed in 1998, as Children's choir singers grew and voices changed! This four part chorus (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) is devoted to music of all styles, including Classical, Broadway and Contemporary tunes. these dynamic and talented singers range in age from 14-25, and include young women in gr.11 and higher, and young men with changed voices. the SYC annually participates in the Family Christmas Concert, and choreographed year end show. they also stage an Orchestra concert each spring, which has presented pieces such as Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass, Vivaldi's Gloria, and Requiems by Mozart, Faure, Rutter, and Daley, to name a few. This year, the SYC looks forward to singing Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. the Youth Chorus joined the senior and chamber Choirs in their 2009 tour to the UK. they were ecstatic to receive 8th place standing in the Mixed Voices category at a festival that boasts participants from over 50 different countries. the choir also participates annually in the Fraser Valley an...    less

Prof. Elisabeth Ziegler, conductor of the “Gumpoldskirchner Spatzen”, was entrusted to be the artistic director of the new women’s choir. She was tempted by the possibility to go beyond the limits given by the repertoire of a Children’s choir and to discover new choral literature with the now adult singers. From the very first moment of the foundation of “Cantilena” until today, Elisabeth Ziegler guides and supports the plans of the enthusiastic young women by sharing her extensive musical expertise.
