Mealor uses a combination of a plainchant style and misleading harmonic suspensions similar to those of Eric Whitacre or Morten Lauridsen. During the fall semester, Voices embarked on rehearsing and preparing 4 selections to be audio recorded and produced with video. For this piece, “Space In Between Us,” it occurred to me that as the community chorus of Chapel Hill, it seemed appropriate to feature images of familiar spaces/places in and around Chapel Hill. We wanted to give deference to St. Thomas More and University Methodist, as they have been so gen... less
