As these things do however, the ...  moreThe New 4tet is a group of four friends, Gemma, Emma, Gary and Noel, who as very experienced Choral singers decided to meet once in a while to drink wine, chat, socialise, and do a bit of singing together, just for fun. As these things do however, the project has started to grow arms and legs, and we became available for the occasional bit of singing in public when we feel like it. Since then our performances have included singing in Glasgow Art Club, and in Edinburgh for the Royal College of Physicians. Based in the west of Scotland, we have all sung together in a prominent Glasgow Choir, but the New 4tet gives us a chance to enjoy the much more intimate sensations of singing one to a part. All four of us have been involved in the music industry to a greater or lesser degree, and we all sing to a very high standard and love performing. Having been friends and in the Choral scene for twenty years, the two have been talking about a project like this for around fifteen years. Spurred by the release of the revised English missal, Alejandro and Eugene both thought it a good time to finally restart the project that they had shelved for some time. Only now, the idea wasn’t just to end with a single album; the idea was now to establish a ministry that would introduce a new generation of music to Philippine Catholics. Comprised of professionally trained musicians, Innismara is dedicated to the performance of the intimate and hidden treasures of the vocal ensemble repertoire. Innismara made its debut in the summer of 2010 at Muses and Minstrels: A Festival of Early Performing Arts held in conjunction with the Cupids 400 celebrations. In collaboration with the Hot Earth Ensemble, Innismara performed music from the late Renaissance and early Baroque, highlights of which were recorded for national broadcast on CBC Radio. The success of these performances led to an invitation to participate in a series of workshops and performances in the Labrador Inuit communities of Nunatsiavut in the spring of 2011.
