The Choir consists of about 60 female and male singers. Many of the members are active and former students of the University of Music, Drama and Media Hannover, but other professions are represented as well, and all singers are united in their wide choral experience and their joy in singing challenging works together. The performance of a wide range of a cappella works, some of them quite unknown, forms an important emphasis of the Choir. In addition to sacred and secular a cappella music of the 15th century until today, the Choir performs cantatas, masses, oratorios, and passions. Many compositions were broadcast for radio stations or published on CD. The Choir has recorded ten CDs and performed several world premieres of contemporary compositions, e.g. by Büsing, Dinescu, Fuchs and Wangenheim. Due to its diligent and devoted work, with repertoire including pieces by Croatian and other authors spanning from the Renaissance to the 21st century, the Choir reached high quality of interpretation, soon recognized by audience. After many successful performances in Split and the region, the Choir started to participate in various national and international choral competitions, having achieved notable results. Every year the Choir adds a different kinds of music to its repertoire as long as they’re acappella and produces at least 2 relevant projects in every performance year. All the repertoires contains just unique compositions or arrangements for Acappella Grup 34 Choir. Their diverse repertoire ranges from Mozart and Rutter to Take That and Snow Patrol with a good dose of musicals and Disney thrown in for good measure. The seeds of the Choir were first planted back in mid-2012 when Maddy was asked to set up a Choir to perform a small concert at her local church near to Stratford Upon Avon. The Choir are all good friends and met in a variety of ways from other Choirs, bands and performing arts groups. Since their first concert, they have grown to become one of the best and most revered Choirs in the Midlands and have performed at countless venues from the Birmingham German Christmas Markets to Shakespeare’s Birthday Celebrations in Stratford Upon Avon to their very first concert in Warwick in June 2013.
