Composed of twenty young Singers, the choir is involved in an innovative thinking artistic project. The New Baroque Times Voices is characterized by the eclecticism of its artistic choices with a repertoire going from Renaissance to the most complex creations of contemporary music. Attached to The New Baroque Times ensemble, the choir charts its own course and trajectory remaining open and willing to work with other ensembles in Belgium and abroad.  less

Based in the City of London, the choir is named after Haydn’s patrons, the Princes Nicholas and Paul Anton Esterhazy. The music of Haydn is central to the choir’s repertoire but it also tackles a wide range of styles, from Renaissance polyphony to ambitious contemporary choral music

Rory Wilson, an experienced choral conductor from Edinburgh, has been appointed and has begun work with the Choir towards our first concert under his direction in November 2018, based around the Fire Songs of Morten Lauridsen, pairing his settings with settings of the same or similar texts by Renaissance composers.

Entry by audition. Rehearsals are fortnightly on Sunday evenings. Currently performing 4 concerts per year, all proceeds from Quire Voices concerts go to a different selected charity for each event. With members graduated from Hong Kong traditional schools like Diocesan Boys’ School, Belilios Public School, St. Paul’s Coeducation College, Ying Wa Girls’ School, St. Stephen’s Girls’ College, St. Paul’s College, Wah Yan College Kowloon, and also universities like the Hong Kong University and the Chinese University, the group was immediately invited by the HKSAR government to a celebration performance in early July 2010. The group also presented a standard professional program of sacred music in its first concert “Inspiratio” in August 2010, and a themed concert, featuring a range of masterpieces of Chinese Choral music,「聲．華」in August 2011, which won critical acclaim from local music conductors, composers and musicians. All performances are from memory, delivering carefully-structured, semi-choreographed programmes. Repertoire encompasses jazz, show tunes and folk songs as well as opera and the classical repertoire. Members include fellows and alumnae of Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, as well as Singers drawn from the wider community.
