the SEAL LULLABY (Eric Whitacre)
Oh! Hush thee, my baby, the night is behind us,
And black are the waters that sparkled so green.
the moon, o'er the combers, looks downward to find us
At rest in the hollows that rustle between.
Where billow meets billow, then soft by thy pillow;
Ah, weary wee flipperling, curl at thy ease!
the storm shall not wake thee, nor shark overtake thee,
Asleep in the arms of the slow-swinging seas.

Among the many figures carved on medieval cathedrals, one may find examples of foliate heads—a figure in which leafy foliage sprouts and elaborately ornaments a frieze, façade, or column. This figure is kNown as "the green Man" and was mainly a northern European and Celtic symbol of the regeneration of life, a symbol of May, and the return of spring.
the Eostre Sun
It cuts my eyes
Open to the wind and rain
All around, the Earth breathes deep
I come alive again
I am the green Man of the woods
the wounded and the broken land
I am the fire in the red stag's eye
the touch of lover's hand
Of a lover's hand
Oh, let me speak
Lend me your tongue
To sing the trees and streams
Sing the dark blood of the hills
the Moon ... less
