The choir consists of about 60 female and male Singers. Many of the members are active and former students of the University of Music, Drama and Media Hannover, but other professions are represented as well, and all Singers are united in their wide choral experience and their joy in singing challenging works together. The performance of a wide range of a cappella works, some of them quite unknown, forms an important emphasis of the choir. In addition to sacred and secular a cappella music of the 15th century until today, the choir performs cantatas, masses, oratorios, and passions. Many compositions were broadcast for radio stations or published on CD. The choir has recorded ten CDs and performed several world premieres of contemporary compositions, e.g. by Büsing, Dinescu, Fuchs and Wangenheim. World-class, professional Canadian soloists enjoy performing with with the choir time and again. Each season, the choir presents four or five concerts, incorporating a blend of repertoire from gospel to sacred to pop to oratorio. Classical highlights include St. Matthew Passion, Elijah, the annual Messiah, Carmina Burana, and Bach's B Minor Mass, which was a crowning achievement for the choir’s 10th and 20th anniversaries. Other popular concerts have featured the musical and comedic talents of Natalie Choquette, the famous and charismatic Michael Burgess, and the stirring sounds of spirituals under the direction of Brainerd Blyden-Taylor, whose own professional Chamber choir, The Nathaniel Dett Chorale, headed for Washington to join the celebrations around President Obama’s inauguration.  less

It was the official choir of the Masaryk University in Brno between 1999 and 2003. Since then it has continued as a civic association. In 2003 Štěpán Policer took up the artistic leadership of Gaudeamus, since 2007 Dáša Karasová has been leading the choir. The choir has been undoubtedly contributing to the advancement of Brno musical culture by giving concerts and appearing at benefit events annually. The establishment of the chorus is to build a platform for the youth to promote choral music and realize their dreams, as well as to organize different cultural exchange activities to promote music and serve the society. In the summer of 2011, HKVC held their debut concert “Sing Out a Dream” in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall to raise funds to support the charitable work of the Lions Club of Central. In 2012, the chorus organized and performed five shows of a grand scale original youth choral musical “Like. So?”. The musical received positive comments and the chorus was even invited by renowned pianist Ms. Nancy Loo to an interview and performance in her RTHK 4 Radio Program “Cantilena”.
