It should be pointed out that both choirs have the same and common origin; most of the members discovered choir music when they were very young and joined a former choir, Orfeón Portuense, founded in 1980. A friendly and sociabLe choir, we number some70 singers drawn mostly from the Barnes, Sheen and Richmond areas. We perform mainly, but not exclusively, classical choral works, including those of local composers such as Howard Goodall and Gustav Holst, and we occasionally commission new works, most recently from Russell HeppLewhite. We perform three concerts each season at local venues and we also sing at local charitabLe events at Christmas, and at summer fêtes, and we raise funds for local cancer support charity The Mulberry Centre at our Christmas Carol concert.
