Student membership includes students from all disciplines that love to sing and enjoy camaraderie through great music. It is intended to provide a foundation in area of vocal technique while achieving a high standard of excellence in repertoire selected from all periods and musical styles. This ensemble is offered every fall and spring semester.

Performing a repertoire ranging from Renaissance polyphony to unique jazz and pop arrangements, the group has been praised for stunning performance, exquisite singing and creating a sound that spans the entire range of vocal colour. Founded in 2003 by ex-choristers of Westminster Abbey, VOCES8 first achieved success in 2005, winning first prize at the International Choral Grand Prix in Gorizia, Italy. Subsequently the group has performed widely in the UK, Europe, the USA, Africa and Asia. VOCES8’s career has developed both in the classical choral scene and the world of a cappella. In 2009, the group’s first commercial album, EVENSONG, was nominated for a CARA. MGC travelled widely in Europe and had a high standard. In 2003, we changed our name to Manx Voices. We love singing to community groups, in church services and concerts. We compete in our local music festivals and have sung on stage with Blake. We are a very democratic, mutually supportive group of Women ranging in age from 10 to 70!

Ha desarrollado, por tanto, una importante y extensa labor artística a lo largo de más de veinte años. Sus componentes, entre otras actividades de su amplio currículum musical, cuentan con la pertenencia al Coro Filarmónico de Europa, formación integrada por coralistas de todos los países de la Comunidad Europea. El grupo ha obtenido -desde el momento mismo de su creación- galardones en distintos certámenes: Primer Premio del Concurso de Villancicos de Hermandades del Trabajo (1990), Primer Premio de los Certámenes de Participación Ciudadana del Ayuntamiento de Madrid (1992), Primer Premio del Concurso para Artistas Noveles Pasa la Vida de RTVE (1994) y Primer Premio en el XXVI Concurso de Villancicos de Colmenar de Oreja (2012). From the beginning our intention was to establish a dialog between ancient vocal music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods and contemporary music from the 20th and 21st centuries. As the vocal requirements of this aim are very important, we pay special attention to the musical and technical preparation of our programmes, in order to provide high quality performances. Our repertory includes ancient and contemporary music and works from composers such as Claudio Monteverdi, William Byrd, Heinrich Schütz, Tomás Luis de Victoria, Thomas Tallis, Vicente Goicoechea, Darius Milhaud, Francis Poulenc, Vytautas Miskinis, Zoltán Kodaly, Samuel Barber, Benjamin Britten, Astor Piazzolla and Marcos Leite.
