I was on the 1 train on Manhattan’s West Side one day when I saw the poem “Heaven,” by Patrick Phillips. I was immediately captured by the simple beauty of Patrick’s poem, and the mystery of the first line, “It will be the past.” I loved his vision and thought immediately that I wanted to compose music for this poem. Mystery, joy, wonder. “Heaven” is the winner of choral composition competitions sponsored by both the Manhattan Choral Ensemble and Georgia College. Listen to Eri Yamamoto and Choral Chameleon's Artistic Director Vince Peterson discussing the project, with footage from the November 2018 premiere at the Paul Taylor Dance Company Studios. The event culminated in a dance party encore with audience and choir dancing together! After a simple lesson in the Obon dance from Shiga prefecture in Japan, the audience danced to a reprise of the final movement by the choir and trio. The live performance recording of Goshu Ondo Suite will be released by Aum Fidelity label. Pre-Order from October 1st 2019, release date November 15th 2019.  less

All of the other songs sound amazing and this one is covered up and sounds like a lower video quality. South Salem High School's Symphonic Choir preforming at the Oregon 6A choir championships. The fabulous amazing spectacular Carol Stenson is their long standing director. South Salem took FIRST PLACE at Oregon's State Competition. This was their second song of four. This whole competition took place at George Fox University in Newburg Oregon. The South Salem Saxons also took first at their Districts festival in Salem/Keizer Oregon.
